Jake Bugg

Jake Bugg

This probably should have been posted a while back, considering the concert was on the 5th of February, but us two and four other friends, Megan, Jennifer, Emilia and KT
(typicalteenagegirl101.blogspot.com) went to see Jake Bugg!

He is absolutely incredible live, and one of the most down to earth musicians in the industry.

Jake is credited for his comparisons to the likes of Bob Dylan and The Stone Roses, and for bringing a new era of music to the otherwise currently dowdy charts.

He performed an amazing set, even coming on for an encore to sing big hit Lightning Bolt, cue wild dancing and urine throwing.

Not one to hold his tongue, Jake has recently slammed One Direction multiple times, and criticized the Brits acts as 'awful', but I think it's great that he isn't afraid to be brutally honest, and that he still remains the lad from the council estate in Clifton.

We seriously annoyed the people behind us because of our enraged screaming and 'raving', but wotev. The support acts, Hudson Taylor and Little Green Cars, are also worth a listen too!

f you're considering going to see him, GO. That's the only advice we can give really!

Model Muse: Bambi Northwood-Blyth

Bambi Northwood-Blyth, aged 21, is a model from Sydney,
Australia.

She was born Stefani Northwood, but later changed her name as she thought that Bambi represented her personality better, and she had always been commented on for her cute, doll face.

Her popularity has been rapidly increasing in the past couple of years, due to her individuality and unique look. She has those trademark eyebrows, which helped garner attention for the likes of Emma Watson and Cara Delevingne.

Bambi is a hit with high fashion magazine Harpers Bazaar, and has also shot for the likes of Russh, Vogue Japan, Armani Jeans , Marc Jacobs AND Nasty Gal. Yep.

The beauty isn't limited to just editorial though, as she has also hit the catwalk for: Chanel,Balenciaga, Kanye West and Topshop Unique!

I love Bambi because she has that messy, rough around the edges kind of look, like the type of girl you'd always find downtown or at the beach.

She is part of a generation of new, slightly grungy models that are set to take over and change the face of the industry.

If you're self esteem just took a pretty low dip after looking at these pictures, don't worry! Because ours did too. Big time.

We love Bambi!

Chanel Haute Couture S/S 2013

What: Chanel Haute Couture S/S 2013
Where: Grand Palais, Paris
When: Tuesday 22nd January 2013

It's Paris Couture Fashion Week!
And who better to set the stakes high than King of Couture, Karl Lagerfield!?

Set in an enchanted forest created under the wooden dome of Grand Palais, the beautiful fairy-like models of Chanel Haute Couture amazed the fashion crowd with their gothic take on Midsummer Night's Dream.

Models such as Stella Tennant, Cara Delevingne and Lindsey Wixson walked in the sugary sweet wonderland, clothed in flowy floral concoctions and feather-coated bell skirts.

A darker, more sinister take on the classic spring trend, Chanel used dreamy flower prints, chantilly lace and their trademark tweed in a palette of basic pales, creams and blacks.

The drastic eye make-up (resembling mine after watching The Notebook) put a lovely contrast against the la-di-da type designs and, on some of the models, feathers and neat netting were stuck on instead of lashes, which gave a pretty effect on the runway.

I think this was a creative and unique show, and Karl Lagerfield did a great job! Not to mention, one of the more extravagant dresses took a scary 2000 hours to make! No pain, no gain.

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2012

Where: Lexington Armory
When: Wednesday 7th November 2012

Models backstage at the VS Show

At the 17th annual show of one of the BIGGEST, BRIGHTEST and definitely BEAUTIFULIST (that's a word now) events in the world of fashion, A-list celebrities, high fashion models and world famous fashion writers swanned around the prestigious Lexington Armory venue in New York City.

Doutzen Kroes, Cara Delevingne & Ieva Laguna model the PINK range

For this could only be one thing.....

the Victoria's Secret Show.

Liu Wen, Constance Jablonski, Jourdan Dunn & Erin Heatherton strut their stuff

The show, which cost a WHOPPING £12 million to produce, was a fun, energetic bundle of the world's most lust-after women flaunting elaborate jewels and, of course, extravagant underwear.

Karlie Kloss also featured at the show, seen here in the Calendar Girls section as a Thanksgiving Native American

Long-serving Angel, Alessandra Ambrosio, who first started working for the industry in 2004, was chosen to model the 2012 Floral Fantasy Bra, which is a bejewelled bra, lavished in sapphires, rubies, and pink and yellow diamonds.

Joan Smalls, Erin Heatherton and Alessandra Ambrosio walk in the Circus section of the show

And not to mention it is worth a HUGE £2.5 million! Ouch!

Lily Aldridge and Candice Swannepol in the July and February costumes

With 22 hair stylists, 18 make-up artists and 7 manicurists in tow, the models were transformed into Angels.
Adriana Lima, Lily Aldrige & Behati Prinsloo in the breathtaking 'Angels in Bloom' lingerie

And they truly are angels too, having recently donated $1 million to victims of the Hurricane Sandy devastation. Sweet!

Doutzen Kroes and Miranda Kerr in the Silver Screen underwear

The hour-long show featured several themes, including Circus, Dangerous Liaisons, Silver Screen, Calendar Girls and the finale, Angels in Bloom.

Starlets including Alexa Chung and Vanessa Hudgens flocked to the event to watch supermodels like Miranda Kerr and Alessandra Ambrosio, which included performances from Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars! Quite the A List event!
Justin Bieber performed hits like 'As Long As You Love Me' & 'Beauty and a Beat' at the show. Meanwhile, Jacquelyn Jablonski and Adriana Lima take their place in the elaborate circus section.

Angel Lindsay Ellington spoke backstage, whilst having her locks tamed by one of the hair stylists, saying "Victoria's Secret represents confident, powerful women, curves, and it's all about celebrating women!" GO GIRL POWER!

Rihanna performed in lingerie-inspired pieces, and performed her hit single 'Diamonds' and new track, Fresh Off the Runway ( fits in, I suppose).

Brit models were also out in force, including new Angels Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn, who helped model teen range PINK, and Lily Donaldson.

The models celebrate at the end of the show

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2012 will be broadcast across 185 countries (wow!) on the 4th December 20121 Can't wait to see it!

Vamp It Up

It's almost Halloween...

and it just so happens that this season's hottest make-up trend is
GOTHIC.

The prospect of coating your lips in a ghastly maroon and caking your eyes in several layers of black everything could scare off the toughest of fashionistas, daring to try every new trend from the latest catwalks.

Cara Delevingne for Burberry and a model backstage at Jason Wu

Yet it doesn't have to be that frightening. Even a subtle slick of dark lipstick can transform you from your summery coral shades to a more fierce, mysterious persona.

It is advised to not go TOO Edward Cullen in the daytime ( you know, vampires shouldn't be out in the sun!) as it doesn't seem to work as well.
This look is perfect for the night.

Use a light foundation, usually about a shade or two lighter than your usual, and apply it neatly, covering your entire face and neck. Try Maybelline Dream Mousse Liquid Foundation in Light Porcelain Ivory.

Next, apply Urban Decay Primer Potion over your eyelids and use Urban Decay Sin over the base and Urban Decay Buck in the crease and up to the brow bone. Make sure it is not too heavy as too much can look over the top, as though you are actually going trick or treating!

If you are striving for a more serious look, apply a light flick of Barry M Liquid Eyeliner on your upper lashline and waterline. Skip this if you are going for a natural look.

For the lips, if you want a matte look, apply pressed powder onto the lips beforehand, to ensure the lipstick doesn't smudge and stays matte.

The best lipsticks I've found for the Gothic look are the following;

Nars Lipstick in Afghan Red
 Mac Lipstick in Smoked Purple

Kate Moss for Rimmel London Lipstick in Shade 04

This is a lipstick I found in H & M for only £2.99, and it is a lovely shade of purple and will suit a lot of skin tones as it isn't as fierce as some of the above colours.
I think it is a bargain if it is a colour you aren't going to be wearing regularly! The shade is called Lips to Thrill.

Excuse my blinds and strange hand!

Taylor Momsen with her heavily applied black eye-makeup and the gothic inspired make-up for the DKNY show.

Wear your hair tousled and slightly messy to achieve a more realistic gothic look, or you could go sleek and pulled back if you're going for a more severe style!

Good Luck!
