Model Muse: Bambi Northwood-Blyth

Bambi Northwood-Blyth, aged 21, is a model from Sydney,
Australia.

She was born Stefani Northwood, but later changed her name as she thought that Bambi represented her personality better, and she had always been commented on for her cute, doll face.

Her popularity has been rapidly increasing in the past couple of years, due to her individuality and unique look. She has those trademark eyebrows, which helped garner attention for the likes of Emma Watson and Cara Delevingne.

Bambi is a hit with high fashion magazine Harpers Bazaar, and has also shot for the likes of Russh, Vogue Japan, Armani Jeans , Marc Jacobs AND Nasty Gal. Yep.

The beauty isn't limited to just editorial though, as she has also hit the catwalk for: Chanel,Balenciaga, Kanye West and Topshop Unique!

I love Bambi because she has that messy, rough around the edges kind of look, like the type of girl you'd always find downtown or at the beach.

She is part of a generation of new, slightly grungy models that are set to take over and change the face of the industry.

If you're self esteem just took a pretty low dip after looking at these pictures, don't worry! Because ours did too. Big time.

We love Bambi!

We Love...Kendall!

Style Crush

Kendall Nicole Jenner, aged 17, is a runway & editorial model and tv personality from California, USA.
The daughter of gold-medal Olympian Bruce Jenner and so-called 'momager' Kris Jenner, the teen originally found fame on hit E! reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Kendall signed with Wilhelmina Modelling Agency and began modelling at the tender age of 14, and has been snapped up by the likes of Miss Vogue, Sherri Hill and  Forever 21, to name a few!

I adore her simple fashion sense, which always has an edge of urban, L.A cool. She is never a stranger to try out daring prints and bright colours, and you can always catch her in a pair of leather-spiked Louboutins.

Jealous much!?

The paradise-like climate of L.A gives her the opportunity to dress like we only wish we could in the UK, with Bambi & Manson shorts and Rayban aviators. Sigh.

Her long, poker straight, dark brown locks fit in well with her fashion sense, as does her clean, minimal make-up. Her favourites are Lip Lights lip gloss and Smashbox Foundation Primer. She usually sports a nude lip, which draws more attention to her eyes, which she tends to intensify with MAC Kohl Eyeliner.
I also admire Kendall for her down to earth personality. She admits that she is a shy and quiet person, and once said in an interview that she' doesn't want to say anything around new people in case they think she is a weirdo', which reminds me a lot of myself!
I think Kendall is utterly FABULOUS, and is soon to be one of the most sought-after fashion icons of our generation.

Here are some of my Kendall-inspired outfits!:

The Pointe Is

Ballet
"You don't have to know about ballet to enjoy it, all you have to do is look at it"
- Edwin Denby

Yesterday, I attended a ballet class with two friends at the COOLEST place on Earth, Dance City. There were break dancing competitions in the reception, jazz dancers kicking down the banisters, it was like a scene from Fame!

I hadn't attended a proper ballet class since I was around 6 ( take a look, there's me, second row and third from the right!) and I was pretty nervous that I'd have forgotten EVERYTHING.

My worries soon vanished after the OAP guy in full-on lycra walked in ( that happened! ), and it was generally just good to get back into something I used to love so much. Whilst I was there, I noticed all of the luxurious costumes the dancers were wearing, including ruffled tulle tutus, beaded bodices, delicate silk slippers and flowing ribbons.

It made me think that a lot of high-fashion designers creations are rather similar to those worn by these ballet dancers. Just look at recent catwalks from the likes of Chloe', Sherri Hill, Alexander McQueen and especially Marchesa, the reigning brand of elegant gowns and dresses. Back in September this year, Valentino hosted an amazing event for New York City's Ballet Gala, where he designed a mass of beautiful dresses for the performing ballerinas, which gained a lot of media attention for the polished dance style.

Vogue Russia have previously devoted an entire editorial shoot to the refined art of ballet, and they even feature in Kanye West's music video, Runaway. And who could forget big-time controversial movie, Black Swan, which thrust ballerinas into a completely new light.

So, do you think designers are inspired by the graceful entity of ballet, the silhouettes, costumes and chic yet sophisticated manner?

Here's a picture of my little brother and I at the NYC Ballet in January 2011!

P.S. My ballet inspired outfit!

Daphne Groeneveld

Daphne Groeneveld was born on the 24 of December 1993 in Leiderdorp, Netherlands and was first scouted whilst shopping with her mother in Amsterdam  by Bloom Model Management.

She works for London, Milan, New York and Paris modelling agencies and has taken part in numerous campaigns this year, such as;

  • CK Fragrance S/S campaign
  • Jill Stuart S/S campaign
  • Dior Addict Fragrance S/S campaign
  • Roberto Cavalli S/S campaign
  • Dsquared2 F/W campaign
  • Vogue Korea, Vogue Russia, Self Service, i-D covers

And has looked beautiful in all of them might I say! To be honest, she really is a beautiful model. With her long blonde locks, bright blue eyes, big, full lips and flawless figure. She can carry off any outfit without it looking too heavy or frumpy on her slim frame of 179 cm.

She has graced the front covers of Vogue with Tom Ford, walked in Valentino, Chanel and Dior Haute Couture fashion shows in Paris. She even recieved dance moves from the queen of pop Madonna for a Miu Miu ad campaign. Wow! Can me and Rebecca get dance moves from her!?

Erdem S/S 2013

WHAT: ERDEM S/S 2013
WHERE: LONDON FASHION WEEK
WHEN; 17th SEPTEMBER, 2PM

As in the words of Head Designer himself, Erdem Moralioglu, this season's collection would be 'risk-taking and 'more out of his usual boundaries'. He certainly proved the fashion crowd right, showcasing a range of ladylike dresses, in shades of what can only be described as 'toxic pastels'.

The outlandishly beautiful collection was inspired by 1950's sci-fi writer and housewife, Zenna Henderson and was quoted as being something of an alien/spaceship type proposition.

Embroidered florals and mid length hemlines were popular in the line, with neon brights bringing the retro dress styles into a more modern proximity.

The Canadian native used intricate detailing on the creations, with miniscule flowers, beaded collars and the occasional baring midriff.

The make-up, applied by M.A.C, was clone-like and robotic, using neutral colours, with a slight neon lip.
The hair, by Charles Worthington, was pulled into a sleek low bun, which was a nice contrast against the loud prints of the dresses.
This collection is easily wearable and oozes feminity, and is perfect for the coming Spring season!
